chapter 13 Flashcards
what is KHP?
it is potassium acid phthalate it standaraizes NaOH
what is Na2CO3?
it is sodium carbonate wich standardizes HCl
what is a primary standard compound?
it is an ultra pure compound serves as a reference material
examples of primary standards:
1) KHP
2) Na2CO3
what is the secondary standard compound?
a compound whose purity has been established by chemical analysis
standardization is:
determining the concentration of a secoundary standard by titration with primary standard
what it is a titration curve?
its a plot of concentration related to the reagent volume (y) p-function (x) volume
what are the two endpoints?
1) change in color
2) a change in a potential electrode (temp/ pressure ..)
what is the relation between solubility and pAg?
the lower the solubility of the ppt the higher the pAg which causes the equivalence point to be sharper
