Word Construction Rule 1
Before a suffix beginning with a vowel, the combining vowel is dropped

Before a suffix beginning with a consonant, the combining vowel is retained

Between two word roots, the combining vowel is retained

Using slash marks, divide the word into its components

Write the meaning of the component part below or above it

Now define the word, always begin with the suffix, then the beginning of the word. There isn’t always a prefix in a word. Most words have a suffix.
