Chapter 12- Probability (statistics) Flashcards
what’s the formula for p(event) = ?
the formula for p(event) = Number outcomes where event happens / total number of outcomes
the formula for p ( A or B ) = p ( A) + p (B) - p(A and B) is found on the data sheet. what do the symbols stand for?
p ( A or B ) = p ( A) + p (B) - p(A and B)
what does the probability of p (A or B) = ?
p ( A or B) = p (A) + p (B)
what are mutually exclusive events?
mutually exclusive events CAN’T happen t the same time.
p ( A n B) = 0
what are independent events?
if the probability of a doesn’t depend on the probability of B happening then they’re independent.
p(A) X p(B) = p (A n B)
p(A/B) = ?
p(A/B) = p (AnB) / p(B)
what does p(A’) look like?
p(A’) looks like…
what does p(AnB) look like?
what does p(A’ n B) look like?
