A
Macules larger than 1cm.
Ex: café au lait spot

Nodule
A
Solid, elevated, hard or soft, larger than 1cm. May extend deeper into dermis than papule.
Ex: xanthoma, fibroma, intradermal nevi

Tumor
A
Larger than a few cm. in diameter. Firm/soft, deeper into dermis. May be benign or malignant, although “tumor” implies cancer to most people.
Ex: lipoma, hemangioma

MACULE
A
Solely a color change, flat, and circumscribed of LESS THAN 1cm.
Ex: freckles, flat necvi, hypo pigmentation, measles, scarlet fever
