Q

Describe the challenges managers face in managing organizational change in a unionized workplace.

A

Resistance to Change:
- Unionized employees may resist change if it threatens job security, alters working conditions, or conflicts with existing agreements.
- For example, technological changes might lead to concerns about job losses, creating opposition from the union.

Negotiation and Compliance:
- Any significant change affecting unionized workers must align with the terms of the collective agreement. If not, managers must negotiate with union representatives to implement the changes.
- This can slow down the change process and may require concessions.
