Q
Wooden truss floor facts
A
- The truss floor building ordinarily gives no outward indication of its presence
- The void between the floors can act as a reservoir for explosive carbon monoxide
- During a fire their presence may be disclosed by smoke showing through the wall at the floor line. This is less likely in brick veneered buildings
- They are prone to early collapse

Q
Steel truss fire facts
A
- Steel trusses should be cooled by hose streams from a safe location. Do not worry about throwing water through smoke or wetting the contents
- When going into a defensive mode because of potential roof collapse, keep personnel well clear of doors and windows due it the blast of fire that may come out when the roof collapses
