Five different Types of schools
(1) working class schools: students parents, semi/unskilled, umemployed
work focused on following steps of procedure, no decison making
(2) middle class schools: parents work in skilled well paid trades, or own small bussiness, work focused on getting the right answers by following directions
(3) affluent profesional schools: parent are cooperate layers, engineers, executuves, work focused on expressing ideas, individual thought, creativity
(4) executive elite schools: parents are vive presidents, presidents of cooperations, work focused on intellcutal devlopment, reasoning though problem solving,
Disqualified Knowledges
the knowledges that have been disqualified as inadequent
human capital thesis
marginalized groups earn less money than dominate groups because they posses less human capital (education, skills)
relative deprivation
when an individual/group feels deprived compared to a domiant group
Commodification
the tend to treat something as though it were an object to be bought or sold

5 issues in Post Secondary
- long term adjuncet instructors: increase in postsecondary students, reduced govn’t funding, increase private fund
- online teaching: accesability, tech improv., cuts to funding, alination, no disscussion ideas
- McJobs - too many of us not enough jobs
- plagerism - they tell us not to do it, but they do it,
- culture: wester:competition, “put in on words” other cultures dont do this
