What is environment?
The immediate surroundings or the conditions in which living beings exist and develop their characteristics is called the environment.
What is lithosphere?
The solid crust of the earth on which life exists.
What is hydrosphere?
The water on the earth’s surface, underground and also the water present in the air make up the hydrosphere
What is atmosphere?
Air or the mixture of gases that envelop the earth is atmosphere.
What is biosphere?
The narrow belt of 13 km in which all forms of life exist is the biosphere.
What is an ecosystem?
The interaction and relation between all living organisms amongst themselves as well as with their physical surroundings forms a complex system called ecosystem.
What is deforestation?
The act of cutting down trees on a large scale is deforestation.
How do human beings affect the environment?
Over a period of time, human needs increased. People started to expand their influence and cut down trees on a larger scale to cater to their needs. Animals were killed for food and other needs. This had an adverse impact on the environment.
What is global warming?
An increase in the average temperature of the earth’s atmosphere, great enough to cause changes in the climate patterns of the globe is global warming.
