What is multiple r?

How does r^2 change when variables are added to the model
It tends to increase, as a result the adjusted r^2 is a better value to use
What is the formula for the adjusted r^2?
1 - (MS-reg/MS-total)
What value should be used to determine how well the model works?
Standard error of the slope values, and the p-valus calculated from that or the F-test.
How can one tell a relationship is not linear?
The residuals have a clear pattern
How is catagorical data used in multiple linear regression models?
They are given a value of zero or 1 for true or false, their bi value reoresents the increase in the y variable if the catagorical variable is true
