A

Romulus and Remus were brothers who were found by a river by a she-wolf, and adopted by a farmer. They began to build Rome, but fought for fought and Romulus killed Remus in the conflict and Romulus became the first leader of Rome.

Every male who owned land had to serve, Roman soldiers well trained, deserters were punished by death, which all kept roman soldiers loyal. They created a new battle formation which was more efficient and the soldiers were well armed.

They built military outposts between the conquered territories to protect them. They built roads between the settlements so soldiers and supplies could move easily. The romans made some of the conquered people citizens and some allies, creating loyalty to Rome
