Explain the concept ‘human dignity’.
Every individual has the right to live their life with dignity and respect. When individuals are denied their rights, they can experience a loss of human dignity. It is important we show our respect to everyone on a daily basis.
What are the concepts of CSPE?
Interdependence, stewardship, democracy, rights and responsibilities and human dignity.
Explain the concept ‘rights and responsibilities’
Every human is entitled to basic human rights. Each of us has responsibilities towards other human beings in our actions.
Explain the concept ‘stewardship’.
We are temporary stewards of the earth. That means we have to look after out planet and ensure our vital natural resources are safeguarded for the future. Acting irresponsibly can damage out planet for future generations.
Explains the concept ‘democracy’.
Democracy is a form of government where citizens elect people to represent them and make decisions on their behalf.
Explain the concept ‘law’.
Rules and laws are necessary if the rights of individuals are to be protected and promoted. If a law is broken, there will be consequences.
What is an active citizen?
An active citizen is someone who is aware of their rights, acts responsibly and gets involved in the communities they are involved in.
