Groundwater recharge
A process in which water moves down from the Earth’s surface into the groundwater
Blue water
Blue water is the water in freshwater lakes, rivers, wetlands and aquifers
Green water
Green water is water that is stored in the soil or that stays on top of the soil or in vegetation eg. Water in plants.
Groundwater
Groundwater is water found under the Earth’s surface
Improved drinking water
Water that is safe for human consumption
Water scarcity
A situation that occurs when the demand for water is greater than the supply available
Water stress
A situation that occurs in a country with less than 1000 cubic metres of renewable fresh water per person
Name three countries that are

Water refugees
People that move from the countryside into towns and cities, hoping for a better water supply.

Raw material which occurs in the environment which is useful to humans.
Renewable resource
A resource which can be replaced over a short period of time.
Non renewable resource
A resource that can only be replaced by millions of years.
