What is an acute injury?
An injury which changes or worsens rapidly.
What are white blood cells and what do they do?
White blood cells are antibodies that fight off foreign diseases.
What is a vaccination?
A small amount of a weakened disease injected into your body.
What is a chronic injury?
An injury that occurs over a long period of time, which also worsens over time.
What is in the centre of a woman’s egg?
A nucleus.
Why are dead/inactive micro organisms used in vaccinations?
They aren’t overpowering to the point where they will give you the disease, however they will allow the body to recognise it.
How many blood cells do adults have approximately?
20-30 trillion.
To maintain a healthy diet, what 7 food groups should be consumed?
Carbohydrates, fats, proteins, fibre, minerals, vitamins, water.
What is the female hormone called?
Oestrogen.
What is the male hormone?
Testosterone.
What organ do we use to exhale?
Lungs.
Where do we sweat through?
Skin.
Where is urine produced?
Kidneys.
How do you control how much salt you lose?
Perspiring and urinating.
How is the body temperature controlled?
Perspiring and shivering.
