Redaction Criticism
Refers to the living process of passing on the Gospel message. It began with the oral communication of the Gospel by the Apostles, was written down in Sacred Scripture, and is interpreted by the Magisterium under the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Both Sacred Tradition and Sacred Scripture have their common source in the revelation of Jesus Christ and must be equally honored.
Sacred Tradition
A type of literary criticism used by Scripture scholars to determine what sources the scripture writers used to compose their works
Source Criticism
A form of biblical interpretation that goes beyond the literal sense to consider what the realities and events of Sacred Scripture signify and mean for salvation.
Spiritual Sense
The work of salvation accomplished by Jesus Christ mainly through his Passion, death, Resurrection, and Ascension.
Paschal Mystery
The original state of human beings in their relationship with God, sharing in the divine life in full communion with him.
Original Holiness
Way of finding God that cannot be arrived at by our own powers but only through God’s free decision to reveal himself
Divine Revelation
The tendency of all human beings toward sin, as a result of Original Sin.

A form of biblical interpretation that reminds us that the sacred words are intended to lead us to eternal life

A form of biblical interpretation that recognizes the significance of Christ in scriptural events
