Pulmonic
air coming from the lungs
Larynx
laryngeal
Glottis
glottal; at the bottom of the windpipe; space between the vocal chords
Epiglottis
epiglottal; flap that closes when swallowing to prevent food from entering the lungs
Pharynx
pharyngeal; back of the throat
Uvula
uvular; punching bag thing that hangs at the back of the throat
Nasal
sounds that feature air flowing through the nasal cavity
Velum
velar; soft palate; raises (closes) to block the passage between the nose and lung, lowers (opens) to allow air to flow from the nose to the lungs
Hard palate
palatal; directly in front of the velum; roof of the mouth
Alveolar Ridge
alveolar (sounds made using the alveola ridge as a passive articular); The little bump directly behind your two front teeth
Dental
sounds produced using the upper teeth as a passive articulator and the tongue as an active articulator
Labiodental
sounds produced using the upper teeth as a passive articulator and the lower lip as an active articulator
Labial
sounds including the lips in some way
bilabial
sounds crucially involving both lips
Tongue
lingual
