NONCOMMUNICABLE DISEASE
NCD
A medical condition or disease that is noninfectious and non-transmissible among people.
Also known as “chronic disease”
SEDENTARY
Doing or requiring much sitting; minimal activity
CARDIOVASCULAR DISEASE
CVD
A general term for any disease of the heart, blood vessels, or circulation
DIABETES
A disease of carbohydrate metabolism in which an absolute or relative deficiency of insulin results in an inability to metabolize carbohydrates normally.
HEALTH EQUITY
A fair and equal opportunity for every individual to attain their highest level of health.
CARDIORESPIRATORY FITNESS
The ability to perform large muscle movement over a sustained period of time; related to the capacity of the heart-lung system to deliver oxygen for sustained energy production. Also called cardiorespiratory endurance or aerobic fitness.
OBESITY
An excessive accumulation of body fat. Usually defined as more than 20% above ideal weight, or over 25% body fat for men in over 32% body fat for women; also can be defined as a body mass index of >30 kg/m2 or a waist girth of >40 inches (102 cm) in men and >35 inches (89 cm) in women.
CHOLESTEROL
A fatlike substance found in the blood, body tissues and in certain foods. Can accumulate in the arteries and lead to a narrowing of the vessels (atherosclerosis)

The death rate
HYPERTENSION
High blood pressure, or the elevation of resting blood pressure to 130/80 mmHg or greater
FLEXIBILITY
The ability to move joints through their normal full ranges of motions; a health-related component of physical fitness.
OVERWEIGHT
A term to describe an excessive amount of weight for a given height, using height-to-weight ratios.
BODY FAT
A component of the body, the primary role of which is to store energy for later use.
BODY COMPOSITION
The makeup of the body in terms of the relative percentage of fat-free mass and body fat; a health-related component of physical fitness.
RAPPORT
A relationship marked by mutual understanding and trust
