Chapter 1 Lesson 3 Domains and Kingdoms Flashcards
What are the three domains of the classification system
Bacteria, archea and eukarya
What are organisms placed in domains based on
Their cell type their ability to make food and the number of cells in their body
Members of the domain bacteria are called
Prokaryotes
Prokaryotes
Unicellular organisms whose cells lack a nucleus
Archea and Bacteria
Unicellular prokaryotes and they both have heterotrophs and autotrophs both no nucleus
How are bacteria and archea different
Chemical make up is different and their cellular structure
Eukaryotes
Organisms that contain nucleus 4 kingdoms Protists Fungi Plants Animals
Protists
Both heterotrophs and autotrophs. Most unicellular but some like seaweed multicellular
Fungi
Mushroom mold mildew. Most fungi is multicellular. All are heterotrophs they get nutrients from dead or decaying organisms
Plants
Multicellular most live on land. ALL AUTOTROPHS and provide food for most heterotrophs
Animals
All multicellular all heterotrophs
Live everywhere
What eukaryotes kingdoms have nuclei and have more than one cell
Protists animal plant fungi
Organisms that can’t get food on there own
Fungi animal
Organisms get nutrients from dead organisms
Fungi and kinda animal
Other members of this kingdom can be unicellular
Fungi
