Define message
The package of information transported during communications.
Define communication
Process through which ppl use messages to generate meanings within and across contexts, cultures, channels, and media.
What does interaction mean?
A series of messages exchanged between ppl, whether face to face or online.
What is context?
Situations in which communication occurs. Includes: physical location, genders, ages, moods, and relationships.
Define channel :
The sensory dimension ( sight, sound, touch, scent, taste) used to transit information during communication. * EX: may apologize and show a sad expression while touching his shoulder and saying, “I’m sorry”.
What is media?
Tools used to exchange messages, including everything from newspapers, blackboards, photographs to computers, phones and tv.
Define linear communication model :
A depication or communication messages that flow in 1 direction from a starting pt to an end pt.
What Is a sender?
The individual who generates, packages, and delivers a message.
What is noise?
Environmental factors that impede a message on the way to it’s destination.
What is receiver?
The individual for whom the message is intended or to whom it is delivered.
Interactive Communication Model is?
A depiction of Communication messages That are exchanged back and forth between a sender And a receiver and are influenced by feedback And the field of experience of both communicators.
What is feedback?
Verbal and nonverbal messages that receives used to indicate their reaction to communication, Such as :-( Or saying I disagree.
Define fields of Experience:
Believes attitudes, values, and experiences that each communicator brings to an interaction
What is Transactional Communication model?
A depication Of communication in which Each participant equally influences Communication behavior Of the other participants. (EX: I salesperson who watches his customers facial expression. While describing a product Is sending and receiving messages at the same time.
What is interpersonal Communication?
A dynamic Form of communication Between two or more people In which the messages exchanged significantly Influence their thoughts emotions, behaviors and relationships.
What is dyadic?
Communication involving only two people.
What is intrapersonal Communication?
Communication involving only one person, such as talking to your self.
Define I-thou:
A way to perceive Relationship Based on embracing fundamental similarities that connect you to others, Striving to see things from the others point of view, And communicating in ways that and emphasize honesty and kindness.
What is I- it?
A type of perception And communication that occurs when you treat others as though they are objects that are there for your use and exploitation. (EX: I don’t have time for your stupid questions figure it out your self)
Define impersonal Communication
Messages that have negligible Percieved impact on your thoughts, emotions, behaviors or relationships, Such as commenting about the television schedule or passing someone and saying “how is it going” without .
What is meta- communication?
Verbal or nonverbal communication about communication- That is messages that have communication as their central focus.
Define self presentation goals:
In interpersonal encounters, Presenting yourself in certain ways so that others perceive you as being a particular type of person.
What is instrumental goals?
Practical aims you want to achieve or tasks you want to achieve or tasks you want to accomplish through particular interpersonal encounter.
Define relationship goals:
Goals of building,maintaining, or terminating relationships with others through interpersonal communication.
