what is a meta-analysis?
statistics tequnique that combines research from independent studies and draws conclusions from all of them.

person who belives that children have innate knowledge.
empiricist
person who thinks that children innatley have learning mechanisms that allow them to learn lots quickley.

part of the brain responsible for emotional responses.
scientific method
the idea that ideas are false until proven.
5 steps to the scientific method
1) choose a question
2) form hypothesis
3) find a method to test this hypothesis
4) find conclusion
5) what are the implications?
interrater reliability
the amount of agreement between researchers on a topic
test-retest reliability
if a persons tests results stay accurate over time
internal validity
the degree to which results come from what the researcher intended
external validity
the degree to which findings can be attributed to external sources.
correlational design
determines how two variables are related to eachother
experimental group
the group being manipulated
control group
the group not manipulated
independent variable
the thing you are manipulating
dependent variable
behavior attributed to the independent variable
