Q

1788-1790

A

Massive harvest failure, this leads to problems as there is already very little money for everyone and a harvest failure leads to higher prices in bread which the poor can’t afford because there is so much tax. This makes the third estates (where most of the poor were) very angry and in a way mean they have less to lose.

However The third estate found themselves looked up of this meeting so they went to a nearby tennis court where this swore they would force an new constitution on the king and they called themselves the National Assembly. A

The storming of the bastille. This was when the third estate stormed the Bastille, a prison and weaponry, apparently to free prisoners. The prison was more of a sign of the dictatorial rule and burning and smashing the building was a defiant act. Some peeps say this is the turning point of the revolution. They also burnt the feudal
papers which were the papers listing which taxes were overdue. Some people also say the storming of the Bastille was just to get weapons.
