Chapter 1 (Data, Information) Flashcards
What is data?
data is raw unorganized facts that need to be processed data has no meaning.
What is information?
information is when data is processed, organized, structured or presetned in a given context that gives it meaning.
What is sample rate?
smaple rate is how many samples or measurement of an audio recording or soud per second. the more samples the higher the quality.
What is bit rate?
bit rate tells you how many bits can be processed per second.
What is bit depth?
bit depth is the number of bits available to store sound samples
What does ADC stand for?
analogue didigtal converter
What is streaming?
streaming means listening to music or watching video in real time instead of downloading a file to your computer and watching it later
What is buffering?
buffering is preloading data into a reserved area of memory it is called buffering.the buffer is the name for the area in memory where the data is preloaded
What is a pixel?
a pixel usually a square is the smallest unit of a digita limage.
What is image resolution?
image resolution tells us the quality of an image the more pixels the higher the quality and sharpness of that image.
What is a bit map?
bit map is an image made up of individual pixels where each bit represnts one pixel.
What is a vector?
vecotr graphics are completely described by using mathematical definition.
What is lossy?
lossy compression reduces a file size by removing data such as colour from an image.
What is lossless?
reduces file size without effecting the quality.
