Q

What was the most significant cause of WW1 and why? Imperialism.

A

Imperialism: Depending on how big the army is compared to another country’s army can create tension between them because the best country has the biggest army. This is a cause of WW1.

Example: If Germany had a bigger army than Britain then they are more likely to attack because Germany feels stronger.

Q

What was the most significant cause of WW1 and why? Alliances

A

Alliances: Both Germany and Britain formed alliances to be safer at war. This could start a war because if Germany attacks France then Russia and Britain are then involved. If Russia attacks Italy Germany and Austria-Hungary are at war with the Triple Entente.

What was the most significant cause of WW1 and why? The Schlieffen Plan

A

The Schlieffen Plan: Before the First World War Germany had a plan that if they went to war they would have to fight France and Russia. This was because they were in an alliance with Britain so if Germany attacked Britain or the other way round then this is a war.

Q

What was the most significant cause of WW1 and why? Kaiser Wilhelm’s Personality

A

Kaiser Wilhelm’s Personality: Kaiser Wilhelm was interviewed by the Daily Telegraph and told them that he thought Britain were mad! This was bad as the fact that he said Britain was mad meant he could have started a war. Britain would be angry at this point so they will do something back to Germany making it war!
