Head

Neck
The constricted part of a structure adjacent to the head of it.
Body
The principle part of a structure or the shaft of a long bone.
Shaft
The principle part or body of a long bone, a rodlike part.
Tail
The tapered end of a structure.
Lobe
A subdivision of an organ or structure.
Lobule
A subdivision of a lobe.
Segment
A unit of structure separated from other segments with its own blood supply.
Extremity
The end of a long structure.
Apex
The pointed end of a structure.
Base
The broad flattened end of a structure, often it’s lower end.

Fissure
A narrow slit, cleft or grove.
Fossa
A depression or hollow below the normal surface of a structure.
Hilus / Hilum
An indentation or depression on the surface of an organ, where vessels enter or leave an organ.
