promote early detection of a disease or condition, so prompt treatment can be initiated
Tertiary prevention
involves both therapeutic and rehabilitation measures once a disease has been diagnosed
Effective screening
high prevalence
test available that has sufficient sensitivity and specificity, cost effective, acceptable to patients
intervention available during asymptomatic period that will prevent the development of the disease or reduce morbidity/mortality of disease process
USPSTF Recommendation Grade C
There may be considerations that support providing the service in an individual patient. There is moderate or high certainty that there is no net benefit or harm.

There is moderate or high certainty that there is no net benefit or that the harms outweigh the benefits
USPSTF Recommendation Grade I
There is sufficient evidence, or the available evidence is of such poor quality, that the balance of benefits and harms cannot be weighed and recommendations for or against the service cannot be made.
