Deuteronomy 18:18
“I will raise up for them a prophet like you from among their brothers; I will put my words in his mouth, and he will tell them everything I command him.”

Acts 3: 22–24
“For Moses said, “the Lord your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among your own people; you must listen to everything he tells you. Anyone who does not listen to him will be completely cut off from among his people.” Indeed all the profits from Samual on, as many as have spoken have fortold these days.”

Isaiah 42:1–4
“Here is my servant, whom I uphold, my chosen one in whom I delight; I will put my Spirit on him and he will bring justice to the nations. He will not shout or cry out, or raise his voice in the streets. A bruised reed he will not break, and a smoldering wick he will not snuff out. In faithfulness he will bring forth justice; he will not falter or be discouraged till he establishes justice on earth. In his law the islands will put their hope.”

“He went to Nazareth, we are he had been brought up, and on the Sabbath day he went into the synagogue, as was his custom. And he stood up to read. The scroll of the prophet Isaiah was handed to him. Unrolling it, he found the place where it is written: “the Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to release the oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.” Then he rolled up the scroll, gave it back to the attendant and sat down. The eyes of everyone in the synagogue were fastened on him, and he began by saying to them, “today this scripture is fulfilled in your hearing.”

Isaiah 40:3, 9–11
“ a voice of one calling: “ in the desert prepare the way for the Lord; make straight in the wilderness a highway for our God.”… You who bring good tidings to Zion, go up on a high mountain. You who bring good tidings to Jerusalem, lift up your voice with a shout, lift it up, do not be afraid; say to the towns of Judah, “Here is your God!” See the sovereign Lord comes with power, and his arm rules for him. See, his reward is with him, and his recompense accompanies him. He tends his flock like a shepherd: he gathers the lambs in his arms and carries them close to his heart; he gently leads those that have young.
Who was this prophecy fulfilled through?
It was fulfilled by John the Baptist and Jesus

Matthew 3:1–3
“In those days John the Baptist came, preaching in the desert of Judea and saying, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is near.” This is he who was spoken of through the prophet Isaiah: “a voice of one calling in the desert, “prepare the way for the Lord, make straight paths for him.”
Why did John the Baptist come?
He came to prepare the way for the Lord.
Who is the Lord that John the Baptist prepared the way for?
He prepared the way for the Lord Jesus who came in the flesh.

Isaiah 7:14
“Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: the virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son and will call him Emmanuel.”
New testament fulfillment
Matthew 1:18–23
“This is how the birth of Jesus Christ came about: his mother Mary was pledged to be married to Joseph, but before they came together, she was found to be with child through the Holy Spirit. Because Joseph her husband was a righteous man and did not want to expose her to public disgrace he had in mind to divorce her quietly. But after he had consider this, and angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.” All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said to the Prophet: “the virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call him Emmanuel” – which means, “God with us.”
What does Immanuel mean?
Emmanuel means “God with us”
What does the name Jesus mean?
It means “the one who saves his people from their sins.”
Immanuel or Jesus indicates who?

Old Testament prophecy
Isaiah 9:6-7
For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called wonderful Counselor, mighty God, everlasting Father, Prince of peace. Of the increase of his government and peace, there will be no end. He will rain on David’s throne and over his kingdom, establishing and holding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of the Lord Almighty will accomplish this.
What is this a prophecy of?
The prophecy is about the Lord God being born as a child.
There are many verses that prophesy about God coming into the world. Unless we study them carefully, what wont we be able to do?
We will not be able be able to understand the prophesies correctly.
It is not up to man to recognize Christ; that is what?
That is a special gift from God.
