Caudal surface of the hind limb
Proximal
Referring to the extremities only; closer to the trunk of the body
Rostral
Toward the tip of the nose; refers only to place on the cranium
Sagittal plane
Divides body into left and right portions; not always equal
Skeletal muscle
Striated, voluntary muscle
Smooth muscle
Non-striated, involuntary muscle
Superficial
Toward the surface
Transverse plane
Divides the body into cranial and caudal parts; not necessarily equal
Ventral
Towards the belly of the animal
