What are the conditions of appointing an acting manager?

A
  • An acting manager can be appointed to cover the absence of a manager for any period not exceeding three weeks at a time.
  • The total period of time cannot exceed a total of six weeks in any 12 month period.
  • If the appointment will exceed 48 hours the licensee must notify the DLC
  • The appointment must be recorded.

When have i had to apply my host responsibility?

A

Customers attend functions and often come out to buy extra drinks? Its often hard to monitor their behaviour so the interaction when they come up to the bar is important, i always try and have a conversation with them so i can assess their intoxication levels.
If i become aware that someone is trying to order drinks frequently i let other staff members know - so that they can monitor the patron as well

A

“Im sorry, Im very aware of how much alcohol we have served you tonight, i wouldn’t be being a responsible host if i gave you another drink. I can offer you some water or food or a non-alcoholic beverage if you like and we can reassess the situation again later,”
