What is a hypothesis?
A hypothesis is an initial explanation for the problem, an educated guess.
What is creation mandate?
Creation mandate includes the idea that people should fill the earth and study it to discover the best ways to use it, given in genesis.
What is a worldview?
A worldview is the basis on how you interpret reality.(your view on the world)
What is the Big Bang theory?
The idea that long ago the universe began w/ something like a gigantic explosion.
What is a theory?
A tentative model that scientists use to explain scientific concepts.
What is a law?
Kinds of measurable physical quantities that relate to each other.
What is data?
Any information scientists collect by observing nature.
What is earth science?
Simply the knowledge and organized methods of observing the earth and it’s processes using appropriate tools.
What is meteorology?
The scientific study of the atmosphere.
What is oceanography/marine biology?
The branch of science that deals with the physical and biological properties and phenomena of the sea; marine biology is the study of organisms in the ocean
What is geology?
The study of earth’s structures, materials and processes
What is hydrology?
The branch of science concerned with the properties of the earth’s water, especially it’s movement in relation to land
What is astronomy?
The branch of science that deals with celestial objects(stars), space, and the physical universe as a whole
What is engineering?
The branch of science and technology concerned with the design, building and use of engines
Why study earth science?
The creation mandate, use this knowledge to help others and make our lives better; and to glorify God
