Nation
A large body of people united by common descent, history, culture, or language within a particular country or territory.
Nation-state
A territory with internationally recognized boundaries and a politically organized body of people under a sovereign government
Perspective
A point of view based on a persons life experiences
Nationalism
The collective, shared sense of belonging of people who identify themselves as a nation
Sovereign
Recognized as having the right to govern oneself independently
Coup D’état
a sudden, forcible seizure of power
Bias
An inclination that makes it difficult to judge fairly
Collective Consciousness
May be shared by a group or nation when it’s members collectively share similar values, beliefs, and internalized feelings based on their shared experiences. A collective consciousness can develop when the people of a nation focus on their identity as a group rather than on their identities as individuals.
Patriotism
The quality of being patriotic; devotion to and vigorous support for one’s country
Consciously
Being aware of and responding to one’s surroundings
Subconsciously
The concerning the part of the mind of which one is not fully aware but which influences one’s actions and feelings.
