Q

WHAT IS APPLIED RESEARCH?

A

This type of research focuses on practical application. The studies are usually conducted with the aim of solving specific problems or developing new technologies that can be used in real-world settings.

Q

WHAT IS BASIC RESEARCH?

A

aimed at expanding knowledge and understanding fundamental concepts or theories. It does not necessarily have immediate practical applications but is important for enhancing our understanding of certain phenomena. Basic research is usually conducted out of curiosity or interest in a particular theory, without a direct aim for practical use.

Q

THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN QUALITATIVE AND QUANTITATIVE DATA

A

Approach

quantitative data: numbers.
Kajian mengukur bilangan pelajar yang lulus ujian matematik di beberapa sekolah.

qualitative data: words or perceptions.
Kajian meneroka bagaimana perasaan pelajar tentang pembelajaran matematik di dalam kelas.

Purpose

QUANTITATIVE: To measure and test hypotheses, find patterns, relationships, or trends.
Untuk menentukan sama ada sesi tuisyen meningkatkan skor ujian matematik pelajar.

QUALITATIVE: To understand meanings, experiences, and social phenomena in depth.
Untuk memahami mengapa sesetengah pelajar menghadapi kesukaran dengan matematik dan apakah pengalaman emosi mereka di dalam kelas.

Q

WHAT IS RIGOR?

A

Doing research carefully and precisely, following clear steps to make sure the results are accurate, reliable, and unbiased. It involves paying close attention to details and ensuring that every part of the research process,

Q

WHAT IS TESTABILITY?

A

a hypothesis or idea can be tested through experiments or observations. It should be possible to prove or disprove the hypothesis using evidence.

Q

WHAT IS REPLICABLE?

A

a scientific experiment or study can be repeated by other researchers, following the same methods, and they should get the same or similar results. This helps confirm that the findings are reliable and not just a one-time occurrence.

Q

WHAT IS PRECISION

A

Precision refers to how consistent and exact your measurements or data are. If a measurement is precise, it means that repeated measurements or observations will give very similar results, even if they are not necessarily accurate (close to the true value).

16
Q

WHAT IS CONFIDENCE?

A

how certain you are that your results are correct or represent the true situation. In statistics, it often refers to confidence intervals, which show the range within which you expect the true value to fall, based on your sample.

17
Q

WHAT IS OBJECTIVITY?

A

being unbiased and neutral in scientific research or any evaluation. It means that personal feelings, opinions, or beliefs do not influence the results or conclusions.

18
Q

WHAT IS GENERALIZABILITY?

A

how well the results of a study can be applied to a broader population or different situations beyond the specific group or setting studied

19
Q

WHAT IS PARSIMONY?

A

keeping things as simple as possible when explaining a phenomenon or theory.

20
Q

EXPLAIN DEDUCTIVE MODELS

A
  • Identify the theory
  • Formulate hypotheses
  • Collect and analyze data
  • Accept reject hypotheses
21
Q

DEDUCTIVE IS SAME AS?

A

QUANTITATIVE METHOD

22
Q

EXPLAIN INDUCTIVE MODEL

A
  • Observed phenomena
  • Analyze patterns and themes
  • Formulate relationships
  • Develop theory

Q

INDUCTIVE MODEL SAME AS?

QUALITATIVE METHODS

24
Q

WHAT IS THE CHARACTERISTIC OF GOOD RESEARCH?

A
  • purpose clearly defined
  • research process detailed
  • well planned research
  • limitation of research
  • ethical issue
25
Q

DISCUSS SEVEN STEP OF RESEARCH PROCESS

A

1) Identify the broad problem area
2) Define the problem statement
3) Develop hypotheses
4) Determine measure
5) Data collection
6) Data analysis
7) Interpretation of data
