What is ethics?
the study and analysis of what constitutes as good and bad conduct (a set of moral principles and a guiding philosophy)
What is discretion
the freedom to decide what should be done in a particular situation
What is the Ethical Decision Making Pyramid?
A pyramid that displays the many factors that affect a police officers decisions when out in the field performing his duties

Define Meta-Ethics
a branch of analytic philosophy that explores the status, foundations, and scope of moral values, properties, and words
Normative Ethics
concerned with ways of behaving and standards of conduct, focuses on how humans should behave
Applied Ethics
a discipline of philosophy that attempts to apply ethical theory to real-life situations
Professional Ethics
the behavior of certain professions or groups
Morals
relating to principles of right and wrong in behavior practiced by individuals and society
What is Ethical Relativism?
based on judging right from wrong or good from bad and the moral practicing of a particular culture
What are Values?
refers to interests, likes, preferences, duties, moral obligations, desires, wants, goals, needs, aversions, and other selective orientations
What is an example of a Value?
family, health, integrity, honor
What are the Four Guiding Principles of the FBI Core Values?
people, partnerships, process, and innovation
