Toddler like stage, things are often in black and white. Little room for compromise or negotiation its either right or wrong.
Describe the ANYTHING GOES stage of critical thinking by William Perry.
Adolescence, we decide that we cant trust authorities. We become Relativists, meaning only we decide the truth is. No point of view is better than the other. We decided what is right or wrong.
Describe the Critical Thinking stage of critical thinking by William Perry.
The final stage, we understand that some points of view are better than others because of compelling reasons. We use more logic.
What is Morality?
Moral philosophy or ethics in the study of how to live. The way we treat each other and what makes live worthwhile.
What are Values?
Values are based on standards that establish their worth. Not valid ethical systems.
Ethical Argument
a Chain of reasoning, not a formal debate.
Premises
the reasons you should agree with the argument. the conclusion is what you should agree with because of the premise.
Must look at what factors to evaluate an argument?
Truth, validity, and soundness.
