How do SSRIs work
Increases serotonin levels by inhibiting reuptake.
Side effects of Zoloft/Paxil
SSRI can cause nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth, and loss of appetite.
How does Wellbutrin (bupropion) work
Prevent reuptake of norepinephrine and dopamine.
Side effects of bupropion
Wellbutrin can cause weight loss, headache, and constipation.
How does Abilify (aripiprazole) work
Activates dopamine receptors
Side effects of aripiprazole
Abilify can cause weight gain, dizziness, and uncontrolled movements.
Complications of untreated depression
Makes other diseases worse, headaches, pain, sleep disorders, loss of productivity, suicide.

Ativan (lorazepam)
How does Ativan work
Influences gamma-aminobutyric acid
Non drug therapy for insomnia
Regular sleep pattern, bedroom comfortable, excercise but not late at night, no caffeine, no naps, avoid large meals late.
Name two non-benzodiazepine drugs
Ambien (zolpidem)
How does ambien work
Works on GABA receptors at the same location as benzodiazepines.
Side effects of benzodiazepines
Ativan can cause drowsiness and memory loss
