What is rebranding ?
giving a new image to part of the city to attract people back to the area
What is gentrification ?
when the status of an inner urban area which has become unfashionable and neglected is upgraded and the status is improved (happens organically overtime)
What is regeneration ?
improving and investing in an area, this may include demolishing places and buildings new places. The use of a place may change (organised scheme by investor or government)
What are some advantages of gentrification ?
Housing is improved as wealthy investors regenerate old buildings
New businesses move into to cater for wealthier residents
Crime rates may fall due to better housing
Reduced dereliction
What are some disadvantages of gentrification ?
High demand for housing can force tenants out
Tension can arise between originally residents and wealthier residents
Businesses my be lost e,g charity shops
Give an example of a place that has experienced gentrification

What is property led regeneration and give some positives of this
Involves the regeneration of an inner city rea by changing the image of the area,
improving the enviroment,
attracting private investment
improving confidence for further investment
What is a freehold ?
A type of tenure in which the owner has outright ownership of the property and the land on which it stands
What is a private space ?
Privately owned area where public access is prevented or limited
What is a public space ?
A space that is open and accessible to the public
