Short-term environmental changes
Environmental change that occurs quickly and affects organisms immediately.
Long-term environmental changes
Changes that affect organisms slowly over many generations.
Traits
A distinguishing quality or characteristic, typically one belonging to a person.
Subsequent Populations
The rate of how a population has been growing and how it has reached its peak in a certain amount of years.
Organism
An individual animal, plant, or single-celled life form.
Camouflage
A defense mechanism or tactic that organisms use to disguise their appearance, usually to blend in with their surroundings.
Adapted
The adjustment of organisms to their environment in order to improve their chances at survival in that environment.
Population
A group of individuals of the same species within a community.
Mutation
A change in the DNA sequence of an organism.
Tolerance
Ability to endure changes in an ecosystem.
Abundance
A very large quantity of something.
Species
A group of organisms that can reproduce with one another in nature and produce fertile offspring.
Extinct
The complete disappearance of a species from Earth.
Biodiversity
The variety of life found in a place on Earth or, often, the total variety of life on Earth.
