Children (especially in Western Society) have received a better standard of life over the years
WHAT EVIDENCE IS THERE FOR THE MARCH OF PROGRESS VIEW?
- More legal rights such as education and work restrictions
- UN Right of the Child (1992): Child deserves life, education, listened to etc
- Protection + Welfare services
- More child centerdness

Children still experience different levels of conflict in todays society
WHAT EVIDENCE IS THERE FOR THE CONFLICT VIEW?
1) Gender (Hillman): Boys have more freedom
2) Ethnicity (Brannen): Ethnic groups have different expectations on their children
3) Class (Woodrotte): W/C children more likely to suffer from material deprivation
