Changes of State Flashcards
1
Q
explain how chemical changes differ from physical changes
A
the material recovers its original properties if the change is reserved - this does not happen in a chemical change
2
Q
describe the particle motion is gases
A
- the temperature of the gas is related to the average kinetic energy of the particles
- if the temperature of the gas is increased, the particles will move faster
- faster moving particles will exert a greater force on the walls of the container
- this will either cause the container to expand or increase the pressure of the gas
3
Q
explain the relation between temperature of a gas and its pressure at constant volume
A
gas pressure is directly related to its temperature if the volume remains constant
