Describe the differences between mammals and reptiles
Mammals have hair, are warm blooded, upright posture and suckle their young. Reptiles have scales, are cold blooded, sprawling posture and do not suckle
What are the differences in dentition between mammals and reptiles?
Mammals have differentiated teeth with a single jaw bone. Reptiles have rows of similar teeth and several lower jaw bones
Name the two orders of dinosaur
Saurischia and Ornithischia
Name the three orders of dinosaur and identify the carnivores
Theropods, Sauropods and Ornithischia. Theropods are carnivores
Give an example of a theropod, a sauropod and an ornithiscian dinosaur
Theropod - T-Rex, Sauropod - Diplodocus and Ornithischians - Iguanadon
What were conditions like during the Triassic period?
One hot, dry super continent known as Pangaea
What kind of fauna and flora existed during the Triassic?
Fauna - Small dinosaurs, tiny nocturnal mammals, ichthyosaur (marine reptile) in seas Flora - ferns, cycads and early conifers abundant
When did the Archaeopteryx first develop?
The middle of the Jurassic period
Angiosperms originated in the Cretaceous period. What are they?
