How did weaponry change + reason

A

Use of gun powder increased - science and technology and development of flintlock muskets and pistols and match lock mechanism
Decline in crossbows - development of muskets and were cheaper to make than crossbows

How did the composition change + reason

A

Most infantry men became musketeers - driven by the limitations of weapons as muskets were less accurate so more had to be fired to increase accuracy
Development of Dutch countermarch - muskets had slow reload times so this increase the Efficiency of using them
Cavalry no longer wore armour - limited mobility and therefore efficiency in battle and also didn’t provide protection

How did recruitment and training change + reason

A

New model army 1645 - (individuals) cromwells desire to have a national trained army. More disciplined as they were payed and fought better with regular drilltraining
Permanent army 1660 - more open to this idea as the model army worked perfectly so attitudes changed.
Conscription started
