Why did henry close the monastries ?
A reason why henry VIII closed the monasteries were they were breaking the rules that apply to the church. Some evidence to prove that is when henry viii sent people to investigate people in the church , he found that monks were gambling and getting drunk and the prior was found in bed with a monk. This shows that monks were breaking rules they had promised to follow, and that when he showed the survey to the people they wanted the monasteries gone because they thought it was unfair that monks + nuns were almost living a better live then them.
