- 1285 - the Statute of Winchester strengthen the system of raising troops through Assize of Arms: Commisioners of Array would be appointed for each town and county.
- Royal household increased from 500 calvary to 4000 calvary.
- Edward 3 army consist all mercenaries.

- Men could practice longbow on their own, so farm labourers could become skilled.
