What is the purpose of the Change Control Process?
Purpose of Change Control Process:
- Process to track & manage change in systems and facilities (Works with configuration management)
- Reduces risk by reducing Outages, Vulnerabilities, and Errors
Process:
- Request for change to take place
- Presented to person/group responsible for making change
- Approval of change
- Benefits of change clearly established, change justified, and pitfalls identified
- Documentation of change
- Entered into change log
- Continually updated as process continues
- Tested and presented
- Changes must be fully tested & may need to be presented to a change committee
- Implementation
- Develop a schedule
- Report to change management
- Report summarizing the outcome of the change (success or failure)
*All Changes should be tracked/audited and should include a back out plan*
