What is Asthma
A chronic disease of the airways that makes breathing difficult. Inflammation of the air passages that results in a temporary narrowing of the air ways that carry the oxygen to the lungs.
What’s the definition of adherence?
The degree to which a patient correctly follows medical advice
What is operant conditioning?
A form of associative learning, whereby associations and connections are formed between stimuli and responses that didn’t exist before learning occurs.
What is positive reinforcement?
The process of encouraging or establishing a pattern of behaviour by offering reward when the behaviour is shown
What’s a pilot study?
A small scale preliminary study conducted in order to evaluate time, cost etc to improve the full scale study
Why may some people adhere to medical regimes?
- told by the doctor
- trust the doctor
- may feel like if they don’t then their health will get worse or not improve
Why might some people not adhere to medical regimes?
- forget to do so
- may feel like they don’t need it anymore
- may loose items/ medication
