When you pull the starter cord it opens the pawls that grab the spring clip and makes the flywheel spin which starts making voltage with the flywheel magnets passing the magneto. The magneto and its components amplify the voltage sending it through the spark plug boot to the spark plug. The spark plug then creates a spark in the combustion chamber, which creates an explosion throwing the piston downward and allowing exhaust to exit out a port through the muffler [power and exhaust stroke]. When the piston comes back up it draws in fuel and oil and compresses it in the combustion chamber [compression and intake stroke]. The clutch connects the engine to the chain and now the chain is spinning.
