temperate grassland
a terrestrial biome defined by the World Wide Fund for Nature.
chaparral
vegetation consisting chiefly of tangled shrubs and thorny bushes.
desert
a barren area of landscape where little precipitation occurs and, consequently, living conditions are hostile for plant and animal life.
tundra
a vast, flat, treeless Arctic region of Europe, Asia, and North America in which the subsoil is permanently frozen.
permafrost
any ground that remains completely frozen—32°F (0°C) or colder—for at least two years straight.
