What are 2 types of disinfectants?
Hospital Disinfectants & Tuberculocidal Disinfectants.
Hospital Disinfectants.
They clean blood & body fluids. Can be used on any nonporous surface in the salon
Nonporous
Means an item is made or constructed of a material that has no pores or openings.
Disease
An abnormal condition of all or part of the body, or its systems or organs, that makes the body incapable of carrying on normal function.
Tuberculosis
A disease caused by bacteria that are transmitted through coughing or sneezing
Infection
The invasion of body tissues by disease causing pathogens
Infection Control
Methods used to eliminate or reduce the transmission of infectious organisms.
Harmful organisms?
Bacteria.
Viruses.
Fungi.
Parasites.
Infectious Disease
Pathogenic (harmful) organisms that enter the body
To clean?
Cleaning is a mechanical process (scrubbing) using soap & water or detergent & water to remove all visible dirt
The process of disinfection
Destroys most but not necessarily all, harmful organisms on environmental surfaces
Bacteria
One celled microorganism that have both plant and animal characteristics
Pathogenic bacteria
Cocci, staphylococci, streptococci, diplodocus, bacilli, spirilla
Cocci
Round shaped bacteria that appears alone or in groups.
Staphylococci
Pus forming bacteria that grows in clusters like bunches of grapes.
