inciting incident
An inciting incident is an occurrence that sets the dramatic action of the play into motion. The incident usually leads to the primary dramatic question or issue around which the play revolves.
rising action
The intensification of the dramatic action leading logically to the climax
the rising action includes:
Complications (new elements that alter the direction of the action) Discoveries (revelations of new information, opposition to a plan, identity of a character, and so on) Reversals (points at which the action suddenly turns in a completely different direction, or “does a 180”)
climax
The moment of crisis when the original question(s) of the play must be answered. When it is, there is a release of tension leading to the dénouement.
Dénouement, resolution, or falling action
Loose ends are tied up, any unanswered questions are answered, and tension caused by the action is released.`

plot structure that is circular
protagonist
the central character of the play who changes the most
antagonist
the chief adversary in a play who opposes the protagonist: it can be a thing or condidtion or a person
confidante
a characteer in a play in whom the protagonist confides
