The founders believed that this process would ensure a a president elected by well-informed delegates who having no other law making power could not be bribed or influence
What is the role of the Vice President
Breaks a tie in the Senate, constitutional provisions outlining circumstances when the VP my act in place of the President.
Roles of the house in the impeachment process
house hears evidence and determines if action taken. If Evelyn does not support action no action is needed. If evidence supports actions then it goes to President, VP, cabinet.
Roles of Senate in the impeachment process
When evidence supports action 2/3 vote of all sentient required for conviction and removal from office. Senate sits as the court.
Limits on presidential power
Consulting with Congress before troops are deployed, argue that this represents an interference with the president’s freedom to act in a crisis, others feel that it is an unconstitutional limitation on the president’s role as commander in chief.
