Marshall Plan
An American initiative to aid Western Europe, in which the United States gave $13 billion in economic support to help rebuild Western European economies after the end of WW2
Potsdam Conference
The Potsdam Conference, 1945. The Big Three—Stalin, Churchill, and U.S. President Harry Truman—met in Potsdam, Germany to negotiate terms for the end of World War II.
Nuremberg trials
A series of military trials held by the Allied forces after World War II, which were for the prosecution of members of the Nazi Germany Party who participated in the Holocaust and other war crimes. The trials held in the city of Nuremberg, Germany.
United Nations
An international organization formed in 1945 to increase cooperation among member countries. It works on reducing global conflicts.
G.I. Bill of Rights
A law passed in 1944 that provided educational and other benefits for people who had served in the armed forces in World War II.
communism
a political theory in which all property is publicly owned and each person works and is paid according to their abilities and needs.
Israel
A country where Jewish people live.
