pH scale
The scale that measures the amount of acid or base solution.
Salt
A compound made of a metal and a nonmetal; or a combination of a strong base and a strong acid.
Acid
A substance that tastes sour; turns blue litmus paper red; has a charged hydrogen particle (H+); in solutions, can conduct electricity; pH level 0-6
Acidity
The strength of an acidic solution.
Alkalinity
The strength of a base solution.
Indicator
Something used to identify a substance.
Neutralization Reaction
The reaction that occurs when an acid and a base react to form salt and water.
Base
A substance that tastes bitter; turns red Linus paper blue; feels slippery; contain negatively charged particles called hydroxides (OH-); pH level 9-14
